Usually when guest comes to my house to view my collection, they'd have a few questions, which are almostr always the same, as though they're standardised questions. They would tend to ask , "Is it poisonous?" "Have you removed the venom?" "will it bite?" ... Basically, a tarantula bite is no different from a bee sting, although some might be a little more than a bee sting but, if you study and understand them carefully, you wont get bitten. A rule of thumb, you respect them, they respect you. And one more thing to keep in mind that, Tarantula bites are not fatal. Unless that person is allergic to its venom. 1 in a thousand will be allergic to the venom , so there's nothing much to worry about.
What was your first impression on Tarantulas when u saw the picture just a while ago ? "Disgusting"? or "Are you crazy" ? its normal for us fellow Malaysians and in fact most of the people in the wrold to have bad impression on the Tarantulas. Which is also why i established the
Malaysian Tarantula Society to educate people about tarantulas.
